Yep, it’s a New Year and, depending on what media source you use to get information on what is going on around you, it would appear 2016 is going to another year filled with trillions of people attempting to get persuade towards whatever cause they are beating their chests about.
Yes, that’s kinda a rough way to start off my annual News Year thought, but it seems after spending hours this past year reading other people’s thoughts on a whole lot of issues they seem to be an expert on not much is going to change in 2016.
Like millions of you, I like to use this day to reflect back on not just the last year, but all years I have looked back on for thoughts on things to focus on in the new year that will improve upon what I was focusing on the previous years.
However, as I look back over the past five or six years there seems to be a number of embedded obstacles in my path to success that cause things to get derailed. Obstacles like economic issues out of immediate control that keep one from improving their own economy which naturally would lead to improving everything else in one’s life.
I am going to take a different approach this year and outline in my blog to you a few things that need to change in order for everyone to enjoy life better. Yes, this could get deep, but I’ll just cut to the chase with saying…
Everyone Needs to Shut Up
Kinda blunt to tell someone to Shut Up, isn’t it? But in fact not saying something is exactly what many people, places and things need to do this year in order to get things to settle down in the world enough so improvements can be made towards making everything more enjoyable.
So what are some of these things that need to Shut Up?
It Doesn’t Really Matter?
One of the things I see a lot of, and over the past few years has gotten totally out of hand, is people…many of whom are my personal friends…wading into the political arena by making irrelevant posts on all social platforms that take a jab at some political issue they feel strongly about. I have said this before..because it comes from my many, many many years of personal experience…if you our out to commit social (and sometimes professional) suicide post something on the internet that outlines your views on any political issue.
Many unaware, less experienced in life, individuals have lost their credibility as a trusted friend to thousands of people by letting their emotions take control of their wits by responding to a current event, or remark someone else less aware of their self destruction, made. Unless you just announced you are running for a political office, it is best for you to just shut up.
Why? Those who oppose the stance anyone makes on any issue will go to untold lengths to find out who is associated to the person making the statement. Their primary target is to find out who they work for or is their employer.
They will then immediately assume that anyone in that company also has that same view point and support the remarks that individual made. From there, negative word of mouth marketing will eat at the consumer’s confidence of that business. Eventually the negativity will spread to a point of keeping the business from staying in business.
The damage done to a business from an employee or executive taking a stances on a political issue is subtle enough to never make headlines, but strong enough to cause permeant damage to the business’ brand.
The number of these emotion filled remarks being made on Facebook and Google+, as well as other mainstream social platforms, are growing and in order for these social platforms to return to being a vial marketing platform that boasters business’ economy the people making the remarks need to tone it down. In other words people using the internet for a political stump and who are not in politics need to Shut Up.
The Economy Is Not That Good
I understand the frustration many of you have trying to figure out why one business says they are doing well while another says they are not.
The same frustration goes for hearing on “The News” an expert say the economy is on the way back to pre-2008 spending when every mainstream business owner you talk to tells you they are having to continue to make huge cut backs on spending due to lack luster sales in their market.
So who is right? Answer is simple..if you are not getting a raise in your pay check on a regular bases, or if your business is just paying rent each month, indications are the economy is not improving like the experts say.
Another group of people who just need to Shut Up are the people who are saying the worlds economy is improving. If it was I would being having to tell them to shut up..would I?
Toned Down Solutions
“Hey Duke, someone has to say something or things will never change.” Right you are, but in order to get what needs to be changed…changed, the right thing needs to be said by the right person which is not ME or You.
I know this rant is starting to take on an angry tone of which is not my usual style. I will admit it does have some emotional undertone of disgruntlement intended, but not of such to be one of those rants that is forcing an opinion on others. So, I also need to Shut Up.
Listen More Than Talk
My news year’s resolution for 2016 is not much different than the half century of others I have made which all had to do something with improving upon myself so I can help improve upon others. What I see is needed to be said more of in 2016 has to with finding Solutions. What are the solutions.
There is enough said about what the problems we all face. What is not offered are solutions.
That, my friend is what I resolve to do more of this year than I have previously. I’m going to set an example and Shut Up about things that do not matter or have no solution and offer solutions to problems that DO Matter…of which I have plenty of life experience to sort through what I know will work from all of the ones that will not.
Let’s make 2016 a less abrasive year and a more productive year. Let’s talk about solutions to problems and not problems with no solutions…at least problems you or I cannot solve.
Let’s Talk About:
- How to convince more profitable mainstream businesses to take greater calculated risks with more logical spending on hiring more specialist and entrepreneurial businesses to help them get through these rough economic times.
- How to improve the online social platforms to be more social than stumps to stand on to express a negative attitude.
- How to improve the quality of a product or service so it will sustain itself for more than a year.
Let’s just Shut Up and listen for awhile before offering a thought on a solution. That is what I going to do…hope that is what you will do as well.
Of course as always, Let Me Know How I Can Help.
