Golf Course Boredom
Posted on November 15th, 2009 CommentsI find it interesting to the hear the reason (or excuse in some cases) golfers provide me with on why they will not join a country club. I am not sure why I get some of the excuses or reasons since some do not make sense..to me at least.
The number one objection to joining a country club I get from golfers who play more than 100 rounds of golf a year and are not a country club member is playing the same golf course over and over would get boring. That is even after some of them tell me they play all of their rounds on the same golf course.
I can agree country clubs are not for everyone and I am not attempting to sell country club membership (though I probably should charge some of these clubs for the members I have pushed to them). However, many of these statements are misguided and based on a complete lack of understanding the scope of what a country club or golf club offers.
For the boredom of playing one course everyday I would feel with as many clubs that feature more than one golf course it would be refreshing to those who play a lot of golf to take the next step up to join one of those country clubs that have two or more courses.
The argument of the cost for the private clubs verses public courses is becoming moot with the economy forcing country clubs to face the real world and reduce membership dues. The value today of golf club membership have never been this good and if someone is wanting to get out of the pace of play issues and move more to using their golf for business purposes, then the country club is the only place to go.
As far as those who still don’t get it, say playing golf at country clubs is snobby and boring I suggest they take these country clubs up on the Member for a Month Programs they are shoveling out. Go find out for sure if what you are saying is true. I feel you will find that there maybe an opportunity to change your mind.
Of course, I would be interested in hearing what you have to say and let me know how I can help.
The strength of Social Media is in the efforts put into delivering the GTG mission to the public in a Social manor. Social Networking now is mainstream marketing.

6 years ago when I took on my mission to heighten the awareness of Golf’s virtues as an effective business tool I became exposed to what is now called Social Media. More specifically, Social Media for Golf is it is totally different for golf than the mainstream of the business community.
