  • Has Twitter Killed Blogging

Needless to say, but I will, Social Media has come a long, long way since the days of the old chat rooms when ‘Check This Out’ really meant that there was something interesting to check out.

Now that Twitter has come along, Social Media has strengthen on all fronts of social media..Blogging, Vlogging, Events and Networking.

BUT, has Twitter killed the biggest and most viable social media tool…Blogging?

Sadly, the hackers, spammers and a few scammers have really cut a deep wound into the credibility of Twitter being a place to direct attention to someone’s blog.  With all the viruses and malware cookies links being unknowingly tagged to traditionally reputable Twitter accounts the entire population of Twitterville is hesitant to even open a photo of Bubba Watson’s belt buckle he sent out to his fans.

This reluctance has some rationale to it since with the volume of spam and hacked DM’s hitting Twitter, why should anyone take a chance.

As far as for bloggers, they can pretty much forget  drawing attention to their blogs by posting a link to them on Twitter.  Even the most catchy of headlines do not sway most people to even finding out if the link is clear of spam ads

I have gotten to a point I am not opening up another link to any Twitter post since over 60% of the ones I have opened this week all set off my Avast virus alarm resulting in the hassle of scanning my PC again.

Can Twitter do something more to stop the hacking and spamming?  Probably.  Would bloggers be able to survive with not being able to post links on Twitter? No very well.  It would deem Twitter a place worthless for bloggers which would result in them leaving Twitter for more controlled environments.

In speaking with several of my fellow bloggers they all have seen a huge decrease in traffic from Twitter the last week.  They all state they feel it is due to the fear Tweeters have in opening up links to RT’s, DM’s and now general posts.  This is leading all to think…

Twitter may have killed off blogging.

What do you think? Let me know how I can help.

Was it just for fun or intended as a joke? Was it more than it turned out to be or what we hoped it to be? Are the stars of the CK vs JR golf match yesterday before the Super Bowl geniuses or just out to have fun?  The answer to all of these and hundreds of other questions is…

    YES!
