  • Lefty Feels PGA Golf Season Has Been Shortened: Really?

Posted on October 27th, 2009 MrBusinessGolf Comments

In this mornings AFP Release out of Singapore Phil Mickelson mentioned the PGA Season has been shortened.  Did he not receive the tour scheduled for this year? or was it cut off at the President’s Cup?..geez.

"Our season in the US has been shortened and that allows many of the top players to play internationally and allows me to come here and compete," he said.

"I am hoping this will help grow the game in addition to the Olympics."

This shows how the top players of the PGA Tour only play to their own schedule and not to the PGA or fans interest.  Making corporate appearances and keeping the sponsors happy are part of the effort to show the world the game of golf, but to say the schedule of professional events has been shortened because Phil does not want to play in the events really shows disrespect for those guys like Troy Matteson, Rickie Fowler and Jamie Lovemark who work all season to play in as many events they can to make the tour.  The fans, PGA and the world of golf would of LOVED to see Phil this past weekend out at his second home course, Grayhawk, playing in the Frys.com…that would have been good for golf. But I guess Lefty did not see that on the schedule.

I am sure Phil is trying to make the international golf community happy by attending his sponsor’s events, but making comments that allude that his season is over for the year does not mean the PGA schedule has been shortened.

Was it just for fun or intended as a joke? Was it more than it turned out to be or what we hoped it to be? Are the stars of the CK vs JR golf match yesterday before the Super Bowl geniuses or just out to have fun?  The answer to all of these and hundreds of other questions is…

    YES!

What a great day… Read More

6 years ago when I took on my mission to heighten the awareness of Golf’s virtues as an effective business tool I became exposed to what is now called Social Media.  More specifically, Social Media for Golf is it is totally different for golf than the mainstream of the business community.  Seeing where Golf has gone since the hay days of a bright economy and where it is now I… Read More
